چکیده

We present an investigation of extrapolation boundary conditions for lattice Boltzmann method (LBM) using asymptotic analysis. Equilibrium and non-equilibrium extrapolation methods for velocity and pressure boundary conditions proposed in the literature were tested numerically in specific cases. We analyse these boundary conditions using asymptotic expansion techniques and show an improvement in the accuracy of the lattice Boltzmann solution. We also present few numerical examples and simulate fluid flow across an unsymmetrically placed stationary cylinder in a channel with steady and unsteady flow conditions. Thus the article demonstrates application of asymptotic analysis to understand properties of extrapolation boundary conditions for LBM and show the flexibility of these boundary conditions for complex fluid flow applications. © 2009 Elsevier Ltd. Asymptotic Approximations of the Solution for a Traveling String under Boundary Damping

Transversal vibrations of an axially moving string under boundary damping are investigated. Mathematically, it represents a homogenous linear partial differential equation subject to nonhomogeneous boundary conditions. The string is moving with a relatively (low) constant speed, which is considered to be positive.  The string is kept fixed at the first end, while the other end is tied with the ...

Mechanical Quadrature Methods and Their Extrapolations for Solving First Kind Boundary Integral Equations of Anisotropic Darcy-s Equation

The mechanical quadrature methods for solving the boundary integral equations of the anisotropic Darcy’s equations with Dirichlet conditions in smooth domains are presented. By applying the collectively compact theory, we prove the convergence and stability of approximate solutions. The asymptotic expansions for the error show that the methods converge with the order O (h), where h is the mesh ...

Post-buckling response of thin composite plates under end-shortening strain using Chebyshev techniques

In this paper, a method based on Chebyshev polynomials is developed for examination of geometrically nonlinear behaviour of thin rectangular composite laminated plates under end-shortening strain. Different boundary conditions and lay-up configurations are investigated and classical laminated plate theory is used for developing the equilibrium equations. The equilibrium equations are solved dir...

The effect of boundary conditions on the accuracy and stability of the numerical solution of fluid flows by Lattice-Boltzmann method

The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of boundary conditions on the accuracy and stability of the numerical solution of fluid flows in the context of single relaxation time Lattice Boltzmann method (SRT-LBM). The fluid flows are simulated using regularized, no-slip, Zou-He and bounce back boundary conditions for straight surfaces in a lid driven cavity and the two-dimensional flow ...

The Asymptotic Form of Eigenvalues for a Class of Sturm-Liouville Problem with One Simple Turning Point

The purpose of this paper is to study the higher order asymptotic distributions of the eigenvalues associated with a class of Sturm-Liouville problem with equation of the form w??=(?2f(x)?R(x)) (1), on [a,b, where ? is a real parameter and f(x) is a real valued function in C2(a,b which has a single zero (so called turning point) at point 0x=x and R(x) is a continuously differentiable function. ...
